Ask for pet policies

All the established pet friendly hotels have their own pet policies. This is something you need to ask for as it contains the rules and guidelines to be followed when you bring your pet inside the hotel.

There are certain hotels that have restrictions on the breed and the size of the dog being brought in by the customers. So before booking pet friendly hotels, it is extremely important for you to check if they would allow your pet and whether your pet matches their terms and conditions. Therefore, if you know the hotel policies, you and your pet would enjoy a pleasant stay.

Look out for those hotels that insist on keeping your pet in a cage or tied up outside the room. If you are someone who considers your pet as your family member, then you should not opt for such hotels.

How much do they charge?

Most of the pet friendly hotels usually charge a nominal fee ranging from $5 to $50 depending on the breed and size of your pet. 

However certain hotels ask for a deposit which would be returned to you when you check-out of the hotel. The thumb rule is that if your pet causes any damage inside the hotel, then that amount would be deducted from the deposit you have paid. 

Train your pet to be well-behaved

While looking for a pet friendly hotel, you may notice that certain hotels only allow well-behaved pets. Therefore, teaching your pet some manners and few lessons will make your vacation even more enjoyable.

The reason why hotels insist on well-behaved pets is that they do not want other customers to be annoyed by your pet which constantly makes noise or bites the passers-by. It is extremely important to get your pet all the vaccines recommended by a vet so that no unprecedented events occur during your vacation.

Most of the pet friendly hotels provide all the facilities required to make your pet’s stay comfortable in their hotel. However it is your responsibility to keep an eye on your pet. Never leave your pet alone as it can be stolen or traumatized. Your pet’s identification should always contain the pet’s name, your contact number and if applicable, an immunization tag.

This is because if any unforeseen thing happens to your pet, then the hotels usually do not claim the responsibility.
