Have Fun While Traveling On A Shoe String Budget

Some people love spending money while traveling while some look for value for money.

The first instance is okay if you have the money; however, the real fun is when you travel on a shoe string budget; when you would be able to make the most of the money you have.

This is something that would give you double pleasure - (i) the pleasure of traveling, and (ii) the pleasure of getting the best value for your money.

Simple Steps That Would Amplify Your Pleasure While Traveling

You will be surprised how much money you are throwing away while traveling because you are not taking the basic precautions or arrangements. Here is how you can cut off all the unnecessary expenses so you can have more for the real thing:

Water - most people are used to buy water wherever they go which is a constant drain on their pocket. You do not immediately realize how much you are throwing away literally with the habit of buying water.

Each adult person should carry a bottle of 1-2 liters of water depending on the weather conditions. Children should carry their water too - in half a liter bottles.

In this way, you are benefited in two ways - (i) you save money on water, and (ii) you are always sure to have water when you need it.

Snacks - buy some good quality zip lock plastic pouches and carry these with you on your travel.

Wherever you go buy snacks in family size packets because it will save you money (rather than buying a large number of small packets because you are afraid you have no place to store it) and then divide in the plastic zip packets to carry when you are on the move in the town.

This will help you save a lot of money and hassles when you are hungry on he way.

Accommodation deals - unless you have an advance booking which is highly advisable if you are traveling during peak season, you would need to find an appropriate hotel for your stay. Take the locals into confidence and ask them for advice.

You would be surprised of the 'inside tips' you can get in this way. Look for clean and Spartan facilities so accommodation would be the least drain of your money. After all, the hotel would be used only for sleeping in.

A clean room, fresh linen and maybe air conditions (if it is hot and humid outside) would be what you should aim for.

Travel locally by public transport and on foot - do not take a taxi. This would steal a lot of money from your budget. Rather, find out from the locals (you could ask the receptionist of the hotel or other employees that you befriend) how they travel.

If you could hire a cycle or motorcycle it is great as it would give you mobility at reasonable rates. If not, you could travel by the public transport and on foot. In fact the best way to see a city is traveling on foot.

You kind of get in touch with the soul of the place that you would never be able to touch from a taxi; besides you would saving loads of money as well.
